Indulge yourself with a one or two day embroidery retreat in a purpose built classroom in a peaceful country setting in rural NSW, approx. one hour north of Newcastle. All classes tutored by Helen Dafter, a world recognised teacher, author and designer.

Choose from class projects or kits available or be guided by Helen and work at your pace on your own project.

July 15th & 16th, 2011 - Beginner Basics, Silk Ribbon Embroidery for Beginners
For beginners and even those not familiar with traditional embroidery. This is a back to basics day to teach this fascinating art and to learn the stitches and techniques required to create a garden full of flowers - all skill levels welcome but great for beginners.
August 19th 2011, (HALF DAY class) - Beads, glorious beads
Tassels, beaded and embellished - it's your choice. Come along for a fun filled half day where you can play in my bead cupboard - lots of goodies in there! Suitable for all skill levels - you will be amazed at how much fun you can have with a variety of beads whilst learning to create a delightful tassel.
August 26th, 2011 - Embellish
Choose from one of our gorgeous cotton prints and spend the day learning how to embellish it with simple silk ribbon embroidery techniques. Everyone enjoys this one and there is a unique opportunity to do something a little `different' from the student or friend next to you.
September 29th - 30th, 2011 - Painted / Dimensional Backgrounds
Create your own hand painted background and then stitch a garden of cottage flowers on this dimensional surface. Lots of tips and techniques to learn on this weekend. All skill levels welcome.
October 28th, 2011 - Chatelaines and Scissor Finders
Beaded and embellished or your choice. Come along for a fun filled day where you can play in my bead cupboard and create a traditional chatelaine or a gorgeous pincushion, with matching scissor finder filled with emery powder.
November 4th & 5th, 2011 - DOUBLE TROUBLE
Tassels in the morning, embroidered native flowers in the afternoon and a lovely lunch in the middle - just about perfect!!!!! But it gets even better because it is repeated the very next day for the same lucky students.
November 18th, 2011 (HALF DAY class) - Flower Beads
Embellish a cotton print or create a flower tassel - your choice. You will be surprised how these delicate little beads can become so addictive!

Terms and conditions
- The important stuff you need to know!

  • Two day workshops from 9.30am - 4pm for up to 8 people only, $175.00 per person.
  • One day workshops from 9.30am - 4pm for up to 8 people only, $100.00 per person.
  • Half day workshops from 9.00am - 1pm for up to 8 people only, $40.00 per person.
  • Retreats will run with a minimum of 4 people - we reserve the right to cancel any retreat if the minimum of students are not met.
  • Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided as part of your tuition fee for 1 and 2 day classes. Morning tea only for half day classes Please advise any food allergies when making your booking.
  • Basic requirements list will be emailed or posted upon payment of deposit.
  • A list of affordable accomodation options in and around Bulahdelah is available to students if required.
  • Ribbons, fabrics, a wide choice of kits and basic sewing needs are available for purchase on the day or you may choose to bring your own sewing project, needles and sewing basics. All purchases over the course of the retreat recieve a 10% discount.
  • Classes can be tailored to individual group requirments - ie exploring painted background and dimensional stitching, native flowers etc.
